JAMMU, Jun 4 (KNO) : Despite the government has been giving assurances and making promises with the patwaris over their genuine grievances seems least bothered to address the genuine demands Patwaris, the leaders and representatives of J&K Patwar Association Jammu led by its Jammu Provincial President Farooq Ahmed said, “In the interest of the general public, the state government must take appropriate steps to solve the issues of Patwaris/Girdawars as nothing has been done on the ground at government end, forcing us to remain on strike.” However, 21 days have been on, the government yet to address the issues of striking Patwaris which has paralysed the working in the revenue department.
People who need revenue documents and other information related to land deals are still suffering a lot due to the strike of patwaris. “The state government must talk to the representatives of the Association as the recent meeting held with between government and Patwar Association had not come out with amicable solution and government should find an amicable solution to the issue without any further delay,” said people while speaking to KNO at DC Office Jammu who are waiting for ending the strike of Patwaris pertaining to their land deals and other concerned issues.
“The strike has paralysed the working in revenue department putting common people to a lot of hardships,” they added and expressed concern over the continued strike of Patwaris which goes on 21 consecutive days today resulted in numerous hardships and held the PDP-BJP government responsible for failing in addressing the demands of Patwaris as the government cannot have to remain a mute spectator. “Due to the strike, the people are facing lot of problems, especially on account of state subject certificates (PRC), category certificates and other documents or information related to the land records or revenue documents as the ongoing strike has paralyzed the working of the Revenue department at ground zero, putting us to inconvenience,” they maintained.
They also stressed upon the government to initiate a fresh dialogue with the striking Patwaris, their associations and representatives in particular, to have the issues solved in a time bound manner so that common people may not suffer across the state. Association Jammu Provincial President Farooq while speaking to Kashmir News Observer (KNO) on the sidelines of dharna at DC Office Jammu said, “State government least bothered to fulfill the demands and didn’t have any concrete plan to solve our genuine demands.
We will remain on strike till our issues are not redressed by the government.” “We have been fighting for our genuine demands since for the last more than several years including increase in grade pay of Graduate Patwaris from 2400 to 2800, timely DPC of Patwaris and Girdawaris which has not been conducted from last 4 years, creation of Patwar Halqas and GQ Circles for smooth functioning of administrative units, ban on direct recruitment of NTs to provide career progression of Patwaris and Girdawars, enhancement of allowances of Patwaris and Girdawars which is over due from last 8 years, rent for Patwar Khanas (Private Accommodation) till construction of Patwar Khanas to give relief to Patwar community and functioning of departmental enquiry cell which was constituted by government some months ago but the order is not being implemented in districts are all genuine demands, which the government have to fulfill without any further delay,” he claimed.
He added that instead of looking into issues, the present coalition dispensation is only making promises and giving fake assurances and did nothing on the ground, forcing us to remain on strike. He further asked the government to find an amicable solution to the demands without any further delay so that public may not suffer any more.
